Description

Sori in the flowers, covering the stamens with a black, agglutinated, later granular-powdery mass of spore balls.

Spore balls subglobose, broadly ellipsoidal to subpolyhedrally irregular, 35-80 × 25-55 µm, dark reddish brown to opaque, composed of firmly adhering spores that do not separate easily under pressure.

Spores subglobose to polyhedrally irregular, 12-18 × 7-12 µm, yellowish to dark brown, wall 1.0-3.5 µm; inner spores smooth, outer spores coarsely verruculose on exposed surface.
