Puccinia benokiyamensis Hirats. f.

Description
Uredinia on lower leaf surface, subepidermal, erumpent, linear to round, yellow, peridium present.

Urediniospores subglobose, cylindrical to obovoid, apex obtuse, subhyaline to yellow, 21-27 × 16-20 µm; wall 2.0 µm thick, sparsely echinulate, with 2-3, superequatorial germ pores.

Telia on stems in concentric rings from centre of infection, subepidermal, erumpent, linear, <700 µm diam., yellowish brown, peridium present.

Teliospores cylindrical to fusiform, apex acuminate, 1 to 2 celled, yellowish brown, 40-56 × 17-23 µm; wall 2-3 µm thick, smooth; persistent pedicel, up to 70 µm.

Mesospores ellipsoidal, caused by top cell of teliospore disarticulating, yellowish-brown, 22-30 × 19-20 µm.
