Pileolaria shiraiana (Dietel & P. Syd.) S. Ito
Description
Uredinia on lower leaf surface, subepidermal, erumpent, round to ellipsoidal, >200 µm, reddish brown to brown, peridium present.
Urediniospores fusiform to lemon shaped, apex acute, yellowish brown to pale brown, 31-40 × 21-27 µm; wall 2.5-3.0 µm thick, apex thickened, verrucose warts arranged in spiral ridges down the length of the urediniospore, with 2-3 scattered germ pores.
Telia on lower leaf surface, subepidermal, erumpent, dome-shaped, <200 µm, black, peridium present.
Teliospores subglobose, oval to umbonate, apex rounded, 29-32 × 24-49 µm; wall 4-5 µm thick, usually slightly thicker (up to 6 µm) at apex, verrucose, pedicel persistent, up to 30 µm.
