Description
Uredinia on lower leaf surface, subepidermal, erumpent, round, less than 500 µm, yellow, peridium present.
Urediniospores globose, ellipsoidal, subpolyhedrally irregular or asymmetrical, hyaline to subhyaline, 25-33 × 20-27 µm; wall 2-3 µm thick, usually one side of urediniospore wall thickened, apex 4-5 µm thick, verruculose.

Comments
The aecial stage of this rust occurs on Pinus thunbergii. The urediniospore size was recorded as 21-42 × 14-29 µm; by Lee et al. (2004). Telia are described for C. zanthoxyli, but were not observed on Vietnamese material, nor the South Korean samples examined by Lee et al. (2004). |
