Comments
Coleosporium perillae was described on Perilla frutescens (as P. arguta) from Japan by Sydow (1899). It was considered a synonym of C. plectranthi by Hiratsuka et al. (1992, cited in Yun et al. 2007). Coleosporium plectranthi was described on Isodon lophanthoides (as Plectranthus gerardianus) by Barclay (1889) and reported from Korea by Yun et al. (2007). We have applied C. perillae rather than C. plectranthi to recognise diversity based on host range in species of Coleosporium.
